Post Nanaimo Civic Election Interview
CHLY Highlights
Just over 48 hours after the ballots have been counted, we had the chance to talk to re-elected Mayor John Ruttan, Newly Elected Councillor (youngest councillor) and VIU Student George Anderson and newly elected School Trustee Bill Bard.
Mr. Ruttan answered several questions from the public via Twitter and through phone-in's!
George got the most phone-in's, and answered the questions very mature! He is someone to keep an eye on.
Bill Bard who has been a critic for quite sometime, finally gets his chance to be your voice!
Make sure you listen to what each one has to say as they are one of your voices in office!

Hon. Premier Christy Clark responds to Occupy Nanaimo
CHLY Highlights
Nanaimo, October 18, 2011: The Honourable BC Premier Christy Clark responds to a question put to her by CHLY's Stein Johnson, with regard to the Occupy Nanaimo demonstration (the local incarnation of the Occupy Wall Street movement), which was occurring outside the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, where she was speaking about the "BC Jobs Plan" in response to a $200 million-dollar initiative announced by Western Forest Products to create $75,000-140,000 per-year jobs within the local lumber industry to help serve exports to Asian markets for BC wood. Says Clark, "because ultimately, when people are working, and they're working at decent, family-supporting wages, that's the beginning of social equity."

FROSH 2011 - KitschenSink Live DJ mix in the on-air studio
CHLY Highlights
LISTENER DISCRETION ADVISED - may contain content you find objectionable.
DJ Electric Pidjin sits in with SteinAlive and throws one down. Hardly close to being even good radio. Barely even listenable. I know of at least one listener who had to turn off his radio, this shit sucks so bad. If you don't like electronic dubstep, 2step UK garage, or any other music that sucks, don't even think of listening. Check out the Kitschen Sink on CHLY 101.7 fm, Nanaimo and CHLY.CA, Live, Sunday Mornings, 2-4AM, after the bars close on Saturday Night.

SteinAlive's JetLagDebauchery
CHLY Highlights
CHLY 101.7fm's Dylan Perry and SteinAlive went from Nanaimo all the way to Halifax to attend the National Campus and Community Radio Association's (NCRA) National Community Radio Conference (NCRC), hosted by CKDU, the campus-based community radio station at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia.
During the conference, delegates were encouraged to fill-in available slots on their schedule and SteinAlive did so from 4-5pm on Friday, the last day of the conference, and chose JetLagDebauchery as the title of his show because he was feeling the jet lag during the whole week of the conference, generally.
The intent of the show was to expose Haligonians to music they might not otherwise have known about, with a focus on BC music and including some songs not from BC.
Songs played:
DJ Chucknorris - History Defeats Itself
DJ Chuchnorris - YeloE
Chroma Key - Get Back In The Car (NOT from BC)
Puzzleroot - Book of Ghosts
Patrick Lynn - White Indian Blues
Bananafish Dance Orchestra - 2 Step Groove
Giraffe Aftermath - Always On My Mind
Ras Bingi Cat - I Love Mary (NOT from BC, but IS Canadian)
Wyzaker - Boris the Spider (NOT from BC, but IS Canadian)
Mantra Kid - I'm My Own Opponent
Pigeon Hole - John Lennon (live on CHLY's "The Late Shift" Apr 27 2011)
DJ Earthninja - Love Happiness Refix
Velvet Acid Christ - Slut (NOT from BC)
Apologies for the poor quality of the recording off the logger and the last track cutting out early (Le Tigre's Nanny Nanny Boo Boo was announced and played, but the logger put it in a different session with the last half of the Slut song) due to a time synchronization issue.
